Your Perfect Moveout Checklist
Is your moving date quickly approaching? Brace yourself and stay organized by creating a move-out checklist to keep track of your tasks. Whether you are renting or moving out of your first home, you want to make sure your home is spotless on move-out day. Especially if you live in an apartment since that can impact getting the money back from your security deposit.
Here is a list we put together of important tasks that should be included on your checklist.
Pack Up Your Personal Belongings
This may seem obvious, but it should be the first thing on your list. You do not want to run the risk of leaving anything behind. So make note of everything from items in your backyard to art on the wall.
Clean The Floors
Let’s face it, whether you had carpet or hard floors, your floor has faced wear and tear. Make sure to use a broom, vacuum, and mop to make sure you get every inch.
Sanitize The Kitchen
If you spend a lot of time in the kitchen then you may want to give it some extra TLC. Over time our cabinets can accumulate dust and crumbs so make sure you clean up any dirt or residue in your kitchen cabinets. Also, after you empty out your fridge, going inside and wiping down the surfaces with a disinfectant spray or wipe will do the trick.
Fix Wall Damage
Chances are you may have hung art or shelving on the wall. If so, you will need to cover up any holes left behind. Should you need to do any work to the drywall it may be best to hire a professional.
Take Care Of Paint Touch Ups
Leave your walls looking extra clean by picking up fresh paint from your local hardware store. With a small brush, walk around your home or apartment and look for any marks that can be removed with a touch of paint.
If after you complete this checklist you realize there are items you do not wish to bring to your next home, come bring them to StorageBlue! At one of our five facilities, we can find you the perfect space to store your extra belongings safely.
